Retrospective on 2YK+21

Hey, there sports fans, Al here with the latest:

The last year is now a memory—a subdivision of the past. But what has transpired in that subdivision is remarkable. Over a week ago, I had written a rundown of how things were working out for Richard Parker and any art shows. But as with all things, I put that on hold because what I had written seemed forced and hollow. That’s not what this blog is supposed to be about.

If you want a filler, go to a Taco Bell.

I have had to contemplate what actual accomplishments I have made. And as I look back, there have several that feed my creative soul.

Firstly, is having a show again! “The SAY IT AIN’T SO” art show was a vast dopamine hit and a massive ego boost. The better part was that it lasted for two and a half months. And on top of that the sales that came from it! 11 in total!

WOOT!

The fact that came together in such a short time was excellent, and better yet, found the discovery of ten more pieces in storage from all the moves within the last two years and moves!

Nothing could have made me happier.

But the promise of commissions has been brought up again and just waiting on payment for that to proceed.

Of course, promises are a dime a dozen, but it could be something to take me out of my comfort zone.

But I continue to ride high on this.

So, what does the new year hold for me?

New shows for one—possibly three.

One could be at the local Slingshot Lounge. I have done well and been in the first place where I had my very first solo show.

Two The return to Northwest IPA. The new work generated by the last show put a spark in me.

There is a small show scheduled in Molla. I am still waiting to hear more back from this place.

The conclusion of Richard Parker. I think that this is the year when all the physical artwork in this expansive wordless storyline will be finally completed. It has been a long gestation process but well worthwhile.

And on the off chance…

“Last Monster on EARTH!” Printed. I still love comics, and the self-creation of this work will never leave me altogether. That comic book work is valid with the bookend copy for Corpse Cop.

A return to form with a scratchboard comic!

An exciting year to talk about. Now it’s time to put it into practice. And I am out of here.
