A paid and welcomed break

Hey there, sports fans. Al here with the latest:

Where is this been going on? I found that several new pages needed to be made for Richard Parker's story, and that's still going on even as we speak; however, there's a thing called a commission.

You may have heard that people actually pay money for artwork to be made for them. And that is precisely what I am working on right now a little bit of a nice break between doing more Richard Parker stuff, so it changes everything up. Still, it also gives me a chance to research something new in something that should've been done a while back but being paid for it is a new thing for me.

The idea of doing a Hellraiser-themed piece with Pinhead has always been on my mind. Actually, I had tried to do a miniature version of Pinhead several years ago on my five by sevens when I was doing the show circuit. But as it turned out, that didn't turn out quite the way I wanted it to, but it was a beginning. Still, somebody's paid for a 9 x 12 piece and is letting me have free reign on how I want to design it, so I had to do a lot of research and watch the movies again a couple of times and formulate a new piece. Hence, I added a tiny part of TikTok on the piece I'm working on, and there you go. So yeah, a little bit of a break, but getting paid for it. Not bad.

I know that the hard rock I choose isn't to everybody's liking, but it does put me in the mood for what I am working on. A Commission comes to an end.

All work on Richard Parker took about a week's break as a commission was dropped in my lap. When money is given to you to promise a piece of artwork, you got to wonder.

"How can I make this look cool?".

And the fact that the client actually paid more than I was asking is another thing.

The subject is Pinhead from the Hellraiser franchise. I hadn't watched the movies in a long time, but I always felt that the style of artwork I do with scratchboard only makes sense to do the characters of the Cenobites. I tried once a long time ago to do a smaller version of Pinhead on a 5" x7" piece without much success, so I put it off.

But after a re-watching of the first two movies, I thought I could come up with something that would "wow" the socks off of the client.

So far, I have shared the unfinished image with other people, and they all thought that the piece was rockin' it!

That was great to hear.

But the commission is coming to an end.

Watch here the completed piece. https://www.tiktok.com/@alanjohnbennett/video/7075070216270515502?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7019629005599311365 Varnish is on next and set-up time. So that is where I am at on that.

Back to Parker.
